just an update post because why not.
i've been getting increasingly bored of the internet as of late and been reading a lot more on my Kindle. while i would like to do most of my reading with paperbacks and the sorts, i just don't have the room, nor the money, to have the books i'm currently into. i'm in 2 book clubs so it would be an investment. one is on facebook and the other on discord.
i finished Keep It In The Family by John Marrs for the facebook one and started And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie for the other. i wish i could say i enjoyed KIITF, but there were too many plot twists for my liking, and the writing style was just all over the place. i will give it that it kept me on my toes and had a good premise, though.
i also finished Colony One by Tarah Benner and it was honestly a really nice read. it was my first time experiencing military fiction, and i'm wanting to buy the rest of the series. i also need to get the rest of the ACOTAR books so i can fangirl with my best friend. i smiled a bit at "best friend." i recently got back in contact with her and her brother (who's also my bff) just last year, so i'm still giddy about it.
overall, i would rate KIITF a 3.25/5 stars, and Colony One a 4.25/5. Colony One had switching POVs, but it was only between 2 characters and not nearly as much as KIITF. KIITF had me going between like 6 different characters, news headlines, and flashbacks to the beginnings of the dark secret behind the house.
my bf and i also went to a game store and he got himself some YuGiOh cards and Pokémon cards for me.
i'm so happy about the Haunter and Hypno.we also stopped by a book store and i got Sleep Donation by Karen Russell. i'm very excited to read it when i get the chance. Stephen King said, "Sleep Donation has a dreamlike beauty while remaining ominous and off-kilter. Parts of it gave me nightmares - and I'm case-hardened" about it and it just makes me ever more excited.
i'm also working on stuff for my master's application since my professor has a sabbatical he's taking in fall and i need to get stuff to him before then so he can write a letter of recommendation for me. it's so emotional yet so exhausting to be working on all of this. i'm actually doing something with my life ??? and i'm so happy??? idk i just never thought i'd get to this point in my life.
i also drafted up an email to send out for the club that i'm on the board for and i feel so official doing it >:). i included stuff about disability pride month, different informational links, and made surveys for different things.
that's it. that's my life update.
one of my most prized possessions is this gameboy that my boyfriend got me <3
first year doing this woopwoop
i might design a crow fursona while the site is down
i'm a fucking nerd and love pokemon and my favorite starters have been fire types (other than pokemon x where i chose froakie). i absolutely love chimchar. let me tell you why.
chimchar is a fire type pokemon, but when he levels up and evolves, he is also a fighting type. this puts him at a significant advantage against grass, bug, and rock type pokemon. now, you may be saying "crow, how tf is chimchar good against rock type?" it's the fighting type moves!!! and not to mention mach punch. it lets you go first and it's a very powerful move.
the first gym is with Roark the rock type leader, and you can beat it fairly easily. getting to Eterna City Gym with chimchar/monferno is an absolute cakewalk, and the gym battles are too. it's almost laughable. you can just go straight to the gym and beat it if you wanted to.
and that's exactly what i did. holy shit. it's suchhhh a cakewalk.
that's it. chimmy churner is the best starter.
saw this on tumblr but i can't be damned to reblog and tag and insert all this shit. plus i like blogger.
